A normal response to stressful situations is feeling down or having blues sometimes. Everyone also feels anxious from time to time. The ongoing feelings of anxiety and depression which are two distinct conditions are each a serious problem. However if they coexist together it is a more alarming situation that needs immediate concern. In addition, according to surveys 60-70% of those with depression also have anxiety. Anxiety and depression have common roots and treatments and they’re probably the two sides of the same coin.

Overcoming depression and anxiety isn’t quick but it is possible. You do have more power to control yourself more than what you think. The key is to start small and build from it. Here are the tips that can help to cope with depression and anxiety issues: “Reach out and stay connected” social support is essential to recover from depression, Staying connected to the outside world will make a difference in your mood and outlook in life thus decreasing anxiety. “Do things you enjoy” playing social games like basketball can boost your self-esteem. Expressing yourself creatively with art like drawing make you feel better. Also try to hang out with friends or love ones and enjoy spending time with them. This will boost your confidence and will ease the negative feelings in your mind. The last is “Challenge negative thinking” always remind yourself that everything happens for a reason. Think that the happiness you are looking for is in the inside. You must be in charge of your emotions. Remember that the dark memories are also needed to make a brighter one thus making your life happier.

All people are vulnerable when it comes to anxiety and depression. It will always come in our lifetime but knowing how to control yourself gives you an edge on how to overcome those feelings. Only you can help yourself to be fully happy. Build a strong foundation for your life from the good or bad memories that are necessary to complete yourself.
