Project Overview
There are several ways in which peers influence each other. And not all of them are bad. Variables of peer influence include the socio-economic background of the students, and group interests.
The Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary defined peer group as a group of people of same age or social status. After all peer group is the first social group outside the home in which the child attempts to gain acceptance and recognition. Adolescents always emulate their mates in whatever form of behavior they exhibit, since socialization only refers to changes in behavior, a child learn more through interaction with peers. The school which is an established academic institution in which the behavior of an individual is sharpened to get the youth equipped for occupation socialization. In other words, in the school system the child gets into the social group of “like minds” and interest. Peer group as an agent of socialization is the most important socializing agent for the adolescent child. Other children as well as adults can have a great impact on a broad range of issues in the child`s life including achievements in school. The kind of group a particular child identifies with will sometimes determine the kind of influence the group will have on his academic achievement.
Peer influence can have both positive and negative effects on an adolescent’s academic performance. Thus the ways and manners by which peer group influence affects adolescents’ academic performance needed to be researched and documented.
Design and Methodology
This study would primarily consist of qualitative research so a survey is appropriate to use in the methodology. Since the researcher wants to know what are the influence of peer pressure among the academic performance of high school students that would be achieved by gathering enough data from the respondents. After gathering the data from the respondents, the researcher would analyze and interpret the collected data. From that the researcher would formulate the conclusion and solution.
The instrument that would be used by the researcher to gather and collect data would be a survey questionnaire in a digital form (a google form). The questionnaire is composed of different questions that would help the researcher to come up with an accurate conclusion and solution based from the answers on the survey.

Personnel
This study only needs one proponent in which he/she will conduct the research. This research can be done only by one person but it will be efficient if the data gathered is from many persons. The help of other personnel is not neglected thus they are needed not as a research proponent but as a research critic/validators.
Timetable for Completion
Date and Activities
February 9, 2018 - Create an outline about the influence of peer pressure on the academic performance of high school students.
February 10, 2018 - Gather and compile all the necessary information about the chosen topic from the survey.
February 11, 2018 - Analyzing and interpreting the data and at the same time writing the final paper.
Summary
Peer pressure may be present in the workplace, at school or within the society, it can affect people of all ages. It may affect people in different ways but here, the focus is on peer pressure as it influences academic performance of in high school adolescents. Peer pressure may have a positive influence and help to challenge or motivate one to do best.
Since the academic performance refers to how well a student is accomplishing the tasks and what the outcome of education would be. Through socialization and interaction of people over many years, acceptable social customs are taught. Others can also have a great impact on a broad range of issues including achievements in school. Since socialization is a big factor on influencing such a group.
The possible solution may vary from one another but it is also essential to recognize unhealthy dynamics, accept oneself, and to stand on own decisions on what to believe in. The most important thing is to be flexible in the highly socialized world of high school institution.
